The cats meow.
Since I started this blog, I have only been writing about my Keto journey so far and yes, I know it has only been about 3 days but still I did promise myself at the start that I would be doing this so maybe one day my kids could look back at a low point, getting some kind of kick out of what a kook their Mother could be. I am going to step away from the kitchen for a moment so that you can know just how a day can start around here for me.
Awhile back, years ago, my daughter Saisha who resides in Montana had pretty much begged me to watch her cat for about 2 weeks while she moved. Now this cat, Sammy was no ordinary cat. He was a larger then life tiger. I swear to you that he must have weighed 50 pounds or more. He was a beauty though with long orange and white fur. The kind that reminded you of childhood creamsicles on the hottest of Summer days. He was sweet. Oh! So. Sweet. Well, I guess you might have figured it out by now that I did say "Yes" I would take him for that short time. Now I know those who live in Montana are a special kind which the description fits my child well. I ended up having Sammy with me for quite a few years.
Now, I have another daughter as well, this one is Shailah. I believe loves animals as much as I do even though I am sure the cows get scared every time we pass them hearing her scream "Baby Love" at the top of her lungs so loud the witches from Salem are summoned. Shailah decided since we had Sammy why not get a kitten? A kitten! I don't know what anyone was thinking with that thought or even if anyone was? Lucee' who is Shailah daughter seems to turn into the devil himself when she sees an animal. Most times it is not good. Yet for some reason the search is on to bring another animal home. This one being tiny. After days turn into weeks one is found. It is a trip to Seattle and welcome home, Indica. *note that through the whole process I stood my ground with not wanting animals. Now somehow, Indica became Princess and a short 5 years later, I am the proud owner of a cat. She is no longer tiny anymore. I would say she is well over 30 pounds give or take some ounces. The kids swear that I made her "fat" by all the treats I feed her. You know, she is a good girl.
At some point it was assumed that we needed another animal to join the party so nope, this time it is a turtle. Posey. Cute little thing. Lives between 25-40 years. Grows some but is well happy in a 20 gallon tank. Right now she is in a 75 gallon, eats non stop and spends her time lunging at the glass when you walk past her. I guess I am okay with 2 cats and a turtle. But wait! There is more. Shailah is "bored" again so what now? A fish. Yes. A. Fish. Tootles. It is a Beta. He swims around in his little tank that is Sponge Bob themed - sitting on the counter.
Sadly we lost Sammy. I would rather not think about that or be reminded so I will just move on from that part of my life. Now we have 1 cat. 1 turtle. 1 fish. I guess it isn't to bad. 2 swim and the other sleeps all day. But wait! Shailah figures that Princess is bored and needs a friend. No! Please No! I feel my lungs screaming out and my heart twisting inside my chest. I talk her out of it or so I thought. Now I have 3 cats, 1 turtle and 1 fish. The newest family members are Waffles who is a gray tiger stripped kitten and Mochi who is all black with long hair. They told us these were brother and sister. I don't think I can verify that though as they are so different. So different. Mochi spends most of her time lounging and running from Oakley and Lucee' while Waffles spends his time eating berries off my wreath and swinging from the top of my curtain.
Today I woke up in an alright mind set. The kids were quiet so that was nice. The sun wasn't pounding on my window to remind me of the season and I wasn't hungry. I felt rested. Then the zoo arise as on cue. My day starts. I turn on the turtle light, I feed her. I turn on the fish light, I feed him. I open a can of cat food ... meow. meow. MEEEEOOOOOWWWWW! I get them fed, water fresh and wonder why? Just why! Why is there a unicorn head laying on top the cat litter in their box? I suspect it is Waffles. I leave it there for now praying Shailah doesn't think we need a baby pig or any other animal any time soon.
