A Sip for Your Thoughts.
In a few minutes it will be one of my daughter's birthdays. I am awaiting to write a little whoopie on a Facebook page she claims to belongs to her. (it does) She lives in Montana and I am here in (Seattle) Washington so I got to thinking like this ...
Being from Seattle which I am sure is the coffee capital of the World - if it isn't yet it sure should be. Us Seattleites must have coffee morning, noon and night in order to function - at least fit in with the elite.
Montana is very different from here/home. It is a lot of searching there to find that sweet blend of bliss that I crave.
Thompson Falls brought Shailah and I to this strange little coffee stand. It wasn't a drive through like we are accustom to but rather a walk in. Yeah, our stands here do have walk ins too but this one was a bit unusual. It seemed quite quaint once inside the doors where a huge dog lounged on the couch. The place seemed to give off a very Montana-ey vibe to say the least. Country charm in each corner. The bakery display was so different from the bakeries I had ever worked in. This one kind of drew me in like bees to honey.
I ordered my iced coffee and a single peanut butter cookie. The three kids behind the counter were very uninformed on how to make the proper blend. It was simple enough. An iced White Chocolate Mocha. Shailah placed an order for Strawberries and Cream cold drink, as well. Much simpler then pulling shots for the sugary concoction I wanted.
The cookie was on the dry side but did taste 100x better then the flavorless cup full of ... that was being - at least trying to be passed off as coffee.
I might suggest stopping by the little building with the bear painted on the side, while you are passing through the tiny town, not so much for the drinks or treats but to just say Hello to the dog who greets customers with a slight head lift and long stretch.
Now as for the coffee? Honestly - it has to be a hard pass on that one. You might just want to continue to drive a little bit further to the closest gas station and grab one of the over priced bottles of Starbucks until you can get back to civilization and enjoy the real thing.
Kazz 💋
